On January 11th, 2025, we hosted the Nordic Youth Platform Workshop in Copenhagen, Denmark, bringing together 30 participants from 10 countries across Europe and beyond. This engaging event focused on networking, project ideation, and exploring ways to inspire meaningful change within our communities.

Workshop Objectives

The workshop aimed to:

  • Foster connections among youth leaders and changemakers.
  • Inspire innovative ideas to advance the mission of the Nordic Youth Platform.
  • Share best practices and case studies to promote collaboration across diverse teams and regions.

Highlights from the Day

Opening Session

We began by aligning our mission with global priorities, exploring the synergy between the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the core values of our platform’s mission. Participants engaged in an interactive workshop session to identify commonalities and discuss how these frameworks can drive impactful change.

Networking Activity

During a dynamic 40-minute session, attendees explored personal values, volunteering experiences, and their visions for the future. Discussions highlighted:

  • The importance of empathy, teamwork, and sustainability.
  • Innovative volunteering initiatives, from mentoring youth to organising community clean-ups.

Skills such as communication, adaptability, and leadership as essential for making a difference.

Interactive Workshop

We hosted an interactive workshop session to encourage participants to turn their passions into meaningful contributions to society while addressing challenges and rewards of youth engagement. Participants divided into three groups to discuss key challenges and solutions for their regions. Topics included:

  • Extremism, social media addiction, and systemic issues like corruption and racism.
  • Solutions such as awareness campaigns, digital detox programs, and inclusive community spaces.

Groups also brainstormed youth-focused projects, proposing ideas like:

  • Cultural exchange events and interreligious dinners.
  • Youth centres for skill-building and social connection.
  • Social media campaigns and mentorship programs.

Outcomes

The workshop successfully fostered collaboration and produced actionable ideas to address regional challenges. Participants left with renewed inspiration to launch impactful projects in their communities.
