On May 31st, the Nordic Youth Platform hosted another highly relevant and practical Career
Seminar, this time focusing on a topic that every job seeker faces at some point:
“How do you write a CV and cover letter that actually gets noticed?”
Led by Ferdi Gumuskaya, an HR Analytics Senior Specialist with years of experience in
recruitment and screening, this online seminar offered participants the tools and insider tips to
confidently approach the job application process.
📝 What We Covered
Ferdi walked us through what makes an application truly stand out—from the perspective of the
professionals reading them. Some of the key takeaways included:
- How to write a powerful cover letter that doesn’t repeat your CV, but rather tells your
story and showcases your motivation. - What HR professionals are actually looking for when they screen applications.
- Common mistakes applicants make—and how to avoid them.
Many participants were surprised to learn how small changes in tone, structure, or language can
significantly improve the impact of a CV or cover letter. There was also a live Q&A and real CV
feedback, where attendees got to ask their burning questions directly to our speaker.
Participant Feedback
Attendees shared that the session helped them feel more confident about upcoming job or
internship applications. Some even began reworking their CVs and cover letters right after the
event using the tips they had just learned!
Moving Forward
At Nordic Youth Platform, we believe that preparing for the job market isn’t just about ticking
boxes—it’s about understanding how to communicate your unique value. This seminar was part
of our broader effort to support young people in building purposeful, informed career paths.
Stay tuned for upcoming workshops and mentorship opportunities in the next months. Until
then, keep refining your story—and don’t forget: your application is your first impression. Make it
count.
